Iliopsoas Bursitis/Tendinitis

Iliopsoas Bursitis/Tendinitis is inflammation of the iliopsoas tendon and surrounding bursa, causing pain in the groin, hip, or thigh.

Causes:

1. Overuse or repetitive activities (running, jumping, cycling)
2. Direct blows to the hip or groin
3. Muscle imbalances or weakness
4. Poor biomechanics or technique
5. Trauma or injury

Symptoms:

1. Pain in the groin, hip, or thigh
2. Swelling or tenderness
3. Warmth or redness
4. Pain when lifting the knee or flexing the hip
5. Snapping or clicking sensation

Treatment:

1. Rest and ice
2. Stretching and foam rolling (iliopsoas and hip flexors)
3. Strengthening exercises (core and hip muscles)
4. Physical therapy or sports medicine evaluation
5. Corticosteroid injections (if necessary)
6. Gradual return to activity

Prevention:

1. Maintain proper biomechanics and technique
2. Strengthen core and hip muscles
3. Gradually increase training intensity and duration
4. Wear proper fitting shoes and attire
5. Listen to your body and rest when needed

Consult a healthcare professional or sports medicine specialist for proper evaluation and treatment. Early intervention can help alleviate symptoms and prevent further injury.
