De Quervain tenosynoviti

De Quervain tenosynovitis is a condition that affects the tendons on the thumb side of the wrist, causing pain and stiffness.

Causes:

1. Repetitive strain or overuse
2. Direct blow to the wrist
3. Rheumatoid arthritis or other inflammatory conditions
4. Pregnancy or hormonal changes

Symptoms:

1. Pain or tenderness on the thumb side of the wrist
2. Swelling or redness
3. Stiffness or limited mobility
4. Clicking or snapping sound when moving the thumb
5. Weakness or numbness in the thumb or wrist

Treatment:

1. Rest and ice
2. Physical therapy exercises
3. Wrist splint or brace
4. Pain relief medication
5. Corticosteroid injections
6. Surgery (in severe cases)

Prevention:

1. Avoid repetitive strain or overuse
2. Use proper lifting techniques
3. Take regular breaks to stretch and move
4. Maintain a healthy weight to reduce strain on joints
5. Wear a wrist splint or brace during activities that aggravate the condition
