Functional Movement Screening

Functional Movement Screening (FMS) is a standardized assessment tool used to evaluate an individual's movement patterns and identify potential risks for injury or dysfunction. It consists of 7 fundamental movement tests:

1. Deep Squat
2. Hurdle Step
3. In-Line Lunge
4. Shoulder Mobility
5. Straight Leg Raise
6. Rotary Stability
7. Active Straight Leg Raise

Each test is scored on a 0-3 scale, with 3 indicating optimal movement and 0 indicating significant dysfunction. The total score ranges from 0 to 21.

FMS helps to:

1. Identify movement limitations and asymmetries
2. Detect potential injury risks
3. Develop targeted training and rehabilitation programs
4. Enhance athletic performance and movement efficiency
5. Monitor progress and treatment effectiveness

Benefits of FMS:

1. Early identification of movement dysfunction
2. Personalized training and rehabilitation programs
3. Injury prevention and risk reduction
4. Improved movement efficiency and athletic performance
5. Enhanced communication among healthcare professionals

FMS is used in various settings, including:

1. Sports medicine and rehabilitation
2. Physical therapy and chiropractic care
3. Athletic training and coaching
4. Fitness and wellness programs
5. Research and education
