Conjunctiviti

Conjunctivitis, also known as pink eye, is an inflammation or infection of the conjunctiva, the thin membrane covering the white part of the eye and inside of the eyelids.

Types:

1. Viral conjunctivitis (most common)
2. Bacterial conjunctivitis
3. Allergic conjunctivitis

Symptoms:

1. Redness and inflammation
2. Discharge or pus (yellow or greenish)
3. Itching or burning sensation
4. Excessive tearing
5. Swollen eyelids
6. Blurred vision
7. Sensitivity to light

Treatment:

1. Viral: supportive care, antiviral medication (if necessary)
2. Bacterial: antibiotic eye drops or ointment
3. Allergic: antihistamine or anti-inflammatory medication

Prevention:

1. Practice good hygiene (hand washing, avoid touching eyes)
2. Avoid sharing personal items (towels, makeup)
3. Clean contact lenses properly
4. Avoid allergens (pollen, dust)
5. Wear protective eyewear during activities
